New year… new resolutions… mine will be to keep this website a little better up-to-date. 🙂
So for the first new post of the new year…
Open Enrollment for 2018-2019 is well under way!
During the month of January 2018, I accept any and all applications. At the same time we are requesting intentions for re-enrollment for current families, and any siblings of current students that may be attending next year. At the end of January we see how many spots we have available and how many applications I have. Assuming there are enough spots, then everyone is accepted. If not, I am required to run a random lottery. After January 31, all applications are on a first-come-first-served basis.
Some parents may think Alfred Adler is a great fit because we are such a small school, with corresponding small classes, small group instruction, etc. However, I always always always encourage a tour of the school – we run our classes different from any other school. Our classroom management is what gives us our charter. It is not for everyone – not everyone responds well to how we run classes. This is true for students, teachers, and parents. A lot of arguments and concerns during the school year could be avoided with a better understanding of how the school is run, and how the class is managed. I cannot request enough that prospective families take the time to read through the application; schedule a tour; and come to one or two Family Nights on Thursdays (more on those in another post). You can even explore the website a little – there are some external links to information about Adler, Dreikurs, and Glasser.
As a side note, yes, we have a full kindergarten class that we are looking to fill. However we will also have quite a few spots for rising third grade students, and a handful of spots for fifth grade.
Everyone have a wonderful week!
